Bicycle Rides | SAN GIORGIO - CANALE CALUSO - SAN GIORGIO |
| This simple, attractive circuit, which is also suitable for children, takes one hour and twenty minutes. Following a cart track and dirt road you can explore the heart of the Canavese area, along a route that offers extensive views of the surrounding mountains and interesting historic sites. From the castle the route heads towards the Caluso Canal, where you can see the entrance tunnel dated 1764; the path then winds through the wood until it reaches a strange suspension iron bridge dating from 1830 and one of the first to be built in Italy. Continuing along the canal, you cross over bridges, through hamlets and then enter a wood until you reach the tarmac road that leads back to San Giorgio.
| | SAN GIORGIO - AGLIE' - SANTUARIO DELLA MADONNA DELLE GRAZIE |
| This 18-km circuit runs along tarmac and dirt roads to Agliè, a place of historical interest for its Ducal Castle, the church of Santa Marta and the house of Guido Gozzano. The road then continues to the hill of Macugnano where the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Grace (early 18th century) offers a panoramic view of the Canavese plain, surrounded by the Erbaluce vineyards.
| | SAN GIORGIO - AGLIE' (lago della Gerbola) - SAN GIORGIO |
| From the centre of Agliè, which you can reach easily along the tarmac country road, you continue towards the hamlets of San Grato and Santa Maria. At the top of the rise, you will find a signpost to "Laghetto della Gerbola", a small nature oasis once known as Lake Agliè. The track winds past the historic Erbaluce vineyards, where the vines are grown on characteristic pergola structures. |
